NIjet's pilots flying in Top Gun and on the show line

Over the weekend, two pilots from NIjets flew at the BMFA nationals held at RAF Barkston Heath. Chris Robb and Peter Carson flew their jets, the Elan sports jet and a Red Arrow’s hawk as part of the show line display together with many top jet pilots from all over the U.K. Chris’s display comprised of rolls, high loops and some of the lowest passes down the runway of the weekend, (one pass must have been at about 2ft) all made more impressive with the aid of a line of white smoke trailing from the tail pipe, the crowd loved it! with a cheer of approval. One display comprised of three hawks flying in formation and at the end of the display all three taxied into the pits just like the real Red Arrows, it looked fantastic, and again the crowd loved it. The hawk did suffer a little damage on Sunday during the last flight of the day when the under carriage failed to deploy on the landing approach, therefore, Chris had to implement a risky ‘wheels up’ landing on the grass along the side of the runway.
Peter’s displays were also very impressive, with rolls, knife edge, highG turns, and some great formation low passes down the runway with one of the pilots from Al’s Hobbies, who also flew a similar Elan sports jet. Peter had a few problems with the Jet cat 120 on the Saturday, however all was sorted with a little help from Ali and he was soon back in the air again. All the pilots and their helpers enjoyed the experience of flying at the Nationals, both pilots and officials on the show line made the Irish lads very welcome over the weekend and also handed out various invitations to the Nijet pilots to fly at other major model shows in the U.K and next year’s Nationals, so from all the Irish lads, we would like to express our thanks to everyone on the show line and hopefully we will see you all next year.
