Bombardier Family Fun Day
Members
from NIAA helped out at the Bombardier Family day at the Ulster Transport Museum
on the 16 August 2008. There where two activities taking place on the day, the
first was a dart building day in the Railway gallery, where children and their
parents could build and test fly the famous BMFA dart rubber powered models, under
the watchful eyes of five members from the area, who helped and assisted in the
construction of the models. Bombardier Trainees had also been recruited to help
out on the building boards which was much appreciated due to the large volume
young pilots taking up the challenge of building and flying their own dart. According
to our PRO Officer, John Pearson " I have never build one of these Dart models,
until today, now I could build them in my sleep"
Luckly Matthew and Dave
were able to get a few hours to fly outdoors before the rain returned, Dave put
on a 3D - display with his Raptor, and Matthew did a tight 3D display with a fun
fly model, both pilot's displays were of the usual very high standard. Overall
it was a good PR day for the area and worth the efford from those helpers and
pilots attending, even when it took some of us 5 hours to get home due to the
floods.
